NEWS LETTER

Dear customer,

Yet again, we seem to have left it rather a long time since the last newsletter, so as usual, there’s been lots happening at Cullimores Organics!

The autumn period was extremely wet and the fields soon became waterlogged, which led to all the cattle being housed during November.

Luckily, we had bought bedding straw at harvest time and we had made plenty of top quality hay so we were able to keep them all well fed and dry - animal welfare is of paramount importance to us at all times.

The in - lamb ewes (200) would normally stay outside until late Jan / early Feb - however, at Christmas time we reluctantly decided to house them as well , due to the non - stop rain!

This gave us a lot of extra work, but it was worth it for two reasons:-

a) saving the land from being badly cut up and spoilt

B) welfare of the animals.

Calving has been going on since January 1^st and to date 32 calves have been born (including 2 sets of twins) with 4 more due to calve. All strong and healthy and now going out on the Salt marshes with their mothers in the Spring sunshine.

Lambing is almost over for another year - 320 lambs born with about 10 more expected.

The ewes and lambs are all out to grass and the lambs are growing at a tremendous pace already!

First new season lamb expected to be ready mid - June! - orders can be taken now for the first batch!

Berkeley Farmers Market is no longer held, but Jamie and Chris continue to attend Gloucester Farmers Market every Friday fro 9am until 3pm.

We now have a bigger stall with fresh meat sales, as well as a large gas barbeque where Chris cooks our tasty lamb and beef burgers.

We hope that all of our customers have a great summer and look forward to seeing you all soon especially at Berkeley Show in August, or Frampton Country Fair in September.
