Welcome to our second newsletter of 2006.

 

Dear customer,
 
John, who is now our senior partner, has just completed his 30th year of lambing! Approx 300 lambs have been born this year.
 
Its always nice too when this job is done and the lambs can be seen out in the fields with their mothers enjoying the spring sunshine.
 
There’s a lot of work to be done with the sheep during May and June, which includes dagging (trimming ewes’ tails) followed by shearing. By the time all these jobs are done, there should be some lambs ready for meat (anticipated around the end of June.)
 
Orders are now being taken in advance during May / June for the first taste of that new - season lamb - you really can’t beat it!!
 

 

Calving:
Most of the cows have now calved and are out to grass on the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserve with their offspring and the bull!
 
They can be seen, if you so wish by taking the WWT “safari ride” when you visit the slimbridge centre this summer.
 
Last years calves are also out on rich spring grazing, ensuring a continuous supply of our famous quality organic beef throughout the spring and summer.

Our customer base has continued to expand during the early part of 2006, enabling us to beat our sales targets for 2005 /2006. We thank you, the customers, for supporting us and hope you will continue buying our quality organic meat for along time to come.

  •       Or you can visit the farm on Fridays between 2pm and 6pm and on Saturdays between 9am and 1pm.
