CULLIMORES ORGANICS :  NEWSLETTER ED. 1 OF 2006.     FEBRUARY - APRIL 2006.

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2006.

It seems like ages since our last newsletter because so much has happened.

Firstly, Godfrey, our senior partner, unfortunately lost his long battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on December 18th 2005. He loved the way the business was going with selling meat direct from the farm and was asking about it frequently, even in hospital. He will be missed very much by everyone for a long time to come.

On a brighter note, spring is just around the corner and lambing time is approaching fast. The ewes are now indoors and being given extra feed to ensure a plentiful supply of milk for the lambs.

Cows have been calving since late December - 12 have now calved so that leaves 27 to go!! Meanwhile last year’s calves are housed and are being given organic hay and organic cake.

On the admin side, we have now joined the Soil Association

(based in Bristol) and have left organic farmers and growers. There were several reasons for this move:-

  • 1.  Soil Association standards are instantly recognised worldwide as being the most stringent and exacting organic qualification.

  • 2. They offer a huge network of contacts for marketing etc.

  • 3. They are based in Bristol which is more local for us.

This move will make very little difference to you as a customer, except you will see a different symbol on the meat.

We have also been certified for Soil Association farm assurance.

We are also attending Gloucester farmers market every Friday between 9am and 3pm.

Jamie and Chris are running this stall which has been an instant success. They make a very good team, with Chris coking organic lamb and beef burgers ( available in organic rolls for £2.50 each) and Jamie taking care of meat sales , including our new product range of steak and Guinness pie and steak and mushroom pies. These are available from both the market stall and the farm for £3.95 each.

If you wish to buy our organic lamb and beef then you can visit Jamie and Chris at Gloucester or come to the farm on Fridays between 2pm and 6pm and Saturdays between 9am and 1pm. Alternatively pick up the phone: 01453 890747 or visit the website www.cullimoresorganics.co.uk and place an order which will be dispatched to you in our new refrigerated vehicle.

Many thanks for your continued support and custom it is very much valued. And we look forward to hearing from you or seeing you all soon.

Yours sincerely JOHN AND JAMIE CULLIMORE.
